Meet the experienced and friendly doctors and staff who make Briarwood Vision Center the leading provider of vision care products and services in Renton.

Dr. Jane Gan

Dr. Gan is an outgoing, warm and upbeat individual who enjoys engaging in conversation. She’s a natural at communicating and explaining medical terms, making patients feel comfortable at their visit. After completing high school in the Bothell area, she went on to receive a B.S. in psychology from the University of Washington. Dr. Gan then received her doctor of Optometry at Southern California College of Optometry in Fullerton, CA in 2003. Dr. Gan started Briarwood Vision Center in 2006 and has really enjoyed serving the Renton highlands community.
Dr. Gan is a member of the American Optometric Society, Optometric physicians of Wasington and King County optometric society.  In her spare time, Dr. Gan spends time with her family, especially her two young boys. She also enjoys gardening, traveling, and eating out.

Dr. Benjamin Crowell

Dr. Crowell joined our practice in the beginning of 2018. A native of the South, he has worked over 20 years in the eye care industry as an optician/optical manager, prior to attending Nova Southeastern Optometry School in Fort Lauderdale where he graduated with profession and academic honors. He then trained at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in association with University of Miami followed by a residency program with the VA Hospital in Salisbury-Charlotte, North Carolina, where he also supervised and trained optometric students. He also has traveled on a medical mission trip with the University of Washington to Vietnam with his wife, who is also a practicing optometric physician in Washington. Dr. Crowell enjoys traveling and spending time with his wife and new baby daughter. Dr. Crowell is an active member in the American Optometric Association, Optometric Physicians of Washington, and King County Optometric Society.

 

Robin Weller

Optician and Office Manager

Robin graduated from School of Opticianry at Seattle Central Community College in 2002 with an AAS degree in Applied Science and has been gaining valuable experience in the optical field ever since. She loves meeting new people and learning about exciting advances in opticianry. She is skilled in choosing eyewear for every need, and will always give an honest opinion! Robin also excels in training new contact lens users. A true Seattleite, Robin was born and raised in Seattle and now makes her home in the Renton area. Robin is a sports nut and is especially passionate about the Seattle Mariners, baseball in general, and NFL football. In her free time, she enjoys reading, cooking, studying history and spending time with her family.

Yoshi Higashi

Frame stylist and Front desk

Yoshi has been in customer service straight out of high school, most of it for custom picture framing. She started her career in the eyecare field in 2010. Yoshi enjoys helping people choose the best eyeglasses for fashion, and vision needs. She’ll help to schedule an appointment and do her best to explain insurance benefits so it is easy to understand. On some days, she’ll also help with some of the pre-testing. After being part of the state apprentice program to become a licensed optician, she continues to study and work towards her Dispensing Optician License. During Yoshi’s spare time, she likes to study the Bible and volunteer to teach people about the Bible. She has three fur babies, all rescue dogs, that she enjoys spending time with.
